 Bottoming and Modified Bottoming taps are used when there is a blind hole that needs to be threaded. This tap pulls the chips out of the hole.
True Bottoming taps have 1 1/2-2 chamfer lead.
Modified Bottoming taps have a 2-3 chamfer lead for tool life.
